Anita Opitz
Owner & Business Manager (Acton & West Concord location)

I was born and raised in Germany and moved to Massachusetts in 2002. My hobbies include many outdoor activities, dancing, music, yoga & painting. With a passion for different cultures and foreign languages I am fluent in German, English, French and Spanish. I love shoes & fashion, interacting with people and I am striving as much as I can to make the world a happier place :-)
After many years of working in the corporate world and taking care of my two children, opening my own store in 2020 has not only been a dream come true but has given my life a new meaning after losing my daughter in 2011. I love talking about her, so please don't be shy to mention her.
I feel strongly about keeping retail alive, supporting local artists and raising awareness about the benefits of natural footwear - which led to the opening of a second location in March 2025.
The new store highlights my favorite brands/styles after five years of listening to customer complaints about their foot issues, comparing podiatrist opinions and successfully treating my own foot pain.
I am mainly at the West Concord location at the moment. Come see me there and I will be happy to talk more about my personal journey!
Juliet Donnell
Store Manager (Acton location)
Juliet lives locally with her husband, her three children and her two Burmilla cats. When she’s not working, she’s either busy in various ways in her church or with her kids and their activities. That time in life as a parent when you’re in the thick of it and can feel more like a chauffeur! From cheering them on the sidelines of the soccer, track and marching band fields, to teaching her oldest son to drive (!), while helping them navigate the world of friendships, homework and screen time! Some of her passions include writing and crafting. She loves playing board games, getting hooked on a good tv show and laughing until you cry with friends and family!
Juliet joined Anita in November 2021 and in her words, “has never been happier at any other job! Anita’s friendship and genuineness has given me the feeling of home and has helped me flourish to become who I am today, working at her store. I’m pretty lucky I’m able to say I love what I do! It’s not only fun to work with shoes and clothes and decorate the store, but it’s the wonderful people that walk through the door.”
She has learned a lot about the styles and brands in the store and can help you find the best fit for your specific foot needs and issues. Every foot is so different and what someone loves, it won’t work for another! That’s what will keep retail alive, coming in and trying on! :) She loves interacting and connecting with people and hearing about the destinations people are excited to embark on!

Darlene Murray
Customer Service (Acton location)
Darlene has been a loyal customer since the day the doors opened, so it was a natural fit when she joined the team in April 2025. Her love of shoes goes way back to her very first job as a babysitter, when she saved every penny to buy a pair of navy blue Pappagallo ballet flats.
Darlene brings her passion for fashion, comfortable footwear, and genuine connection to Anita’s Shoe Boutique. She loves that the store feels like a true community—where customers often arrive as strangers and leave as friends. Helping customers find the perfect pair of shoes for happy feet is a joy for her.
Outside of the boutique, Darlene teaches yoga and embraces a mindful, balanced lifestyle. She loves walking her two dogs on nearby trails, spending time at the beach, Zumba & Line Dancing Classes, reading and music. Traveling is also a passion—especially visits to Arizona to see her daughter and son-in-law, and to Florida to spend time with her son and his fiancée.

Karen Longenecker
Customer Service (Acton location)
Karen Longenecker moved to Acton, Massachusetts in 2021 from Pennsylvania. She was a Certified Activity Director for an Independent Living Community and planned their programming and oversaw 250 volunteers. She moved to Acton to be close to her daughter’s family and be involved in her grandchildren’s lives.
Since moving to Acton, she has been active with the Acton Woman’s Club and is presently a Co-chair Vice President and oversees their programs. She is a member of a local Church, and volunteer as a Stephen Minister.
Her passion is working with people, and she enjoys enhancing their day at Anita’s Shoe Boutique by working with them to find a pair of shoes that feels as great as they look.
Karen's hobbies include Mah Jongg, visits with friends, gardening, travel, music and her two Ragdoll cats.

Rebecca Howard
Customer Service (West Concord location)
Some of you may already know Rebecca Howard as the local reflexologist who has been providing sample reflexology sessions in the Acton Store.
During her training and while working with clients, Rebecca has learned a great deal about feet, how they work and how impactful wearing the proper shoes can be to one's overall comfort, balance and well being.
As an enthusiastic minimalist shoe wearer herself, Rebecca is ready to share her own minimalist shoe story and guide you as you look for your next shoes.
